Short Story Analysis 3

The Man Who Married Himself

1- Mention the main character. Give traits of him.
Sarcastic,a bit of a egomaniac, witty, kinda of a smart-ass.
2- What does the story demonstrate? Explain.
That some of the traditions that we hold are base on some shaky foundations, this story is based on the fact that while many things arent "allowed" to be wed, uses the omition of information to its own advantage.
3- Which is your perspective of the part where the author
mentions the Malaysian girl? Explain.
I don't really have much of a opinion on the Malaysian girl part except that I did not  enjoy the fact that he used the girls as a tool, nothing more then a way to his goal.
4- Mention a satirical comment in this story. Explain.
Altogether, I think the marriage was a great success for the most part. I rarely argued with my spouse; in fact I found myself to be the best conversation holder around. The few times that I did argue, I always won.
5- Is there a psychological interest in this story? Explain.
Yes. They main character has to have some kind of psychological strife to even think of marrying oneself be it that hes egocentrical or that hes insecure of his sexual orientation.
6- Mention three themes and explain each.
Emotionally/Sexual orientation confused: After many failed relationship with female, he decides to try one with the only person he could trust in being himself even to the point of calling himself the man of is dream.
Deviation from the social norm:  The act of marrying oneself is not considered a "normal" marriage this act is followed by the ending mentioning the priest with his new wife.
Comedy: The reaction and gift from his friends having fun at his expense, and the publicacion and manerism of is dad after the event.
7- What do you think about this story?
I found the story pretty funny the guys friends and father made it all-in-all pretty enjoyable
8- Would you marry yourself? Explain.
I would not marry myself just on the fact that I think I would be a terrible husband/spose.
9- What do think about the ending?
I found the ending very weird assuming that it was made in a literal sense of them being married, since that would make the act of consummation the marriage illegal in every sense of the word.
